Biography
Gregory R. Miller was born and
raised in New Jersey. He attended Drew University as an undergraduate and
graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. He went
on to attend Ohio Northern University's Claude C. Pettit School of Law,
graduating in 1979. Following his graduation, Mr. Miller served as a
commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps. While on active duty
from 1980-1983, he served as Judge Advocate. While on reserve duty from
1983-1986, he worked as the Intelligence Officer and Operations Officer for the
4th Amphibious Assault Battalion in Tampa, Florida
After leaving active military duty, Mr. Miller worked as an Assistant State
Attorney with the State Attorney's Office for the Sixth Judicial Circuit of
Florida from 1983-1987. He worked with the State Attorney's Office until 1987
when he was hired as an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) in the Tampa
office of the Middle District of Florida. He worked in the Middle District as
an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) attorney for two years
before transferring to the Northern District of Florida in 1989. He also worked
as an OCDETF attorney for the Northern District until he was promoted to Chief
of the Criminal Section in January 1991. From June 1993 to February 1998, Mr.
Miller served in a variety of positions including Interim United States
Attorney, Criminal Chief, Chief Assistant for the Northern District, and Chief
Assistant for the Tallahassee, Gainesville, and Panama City Divisions. In
February 1998, Mr. Miller resigned from public service and went into private
practice with the law firm of Fowler, White, Gillen, Boggs, Banker &
Villareal, P.A., in Tallahassee. He remained in private practice for
approximately 30 months before returning to work as an AUSA in the Northern
District of Florida. He was nominated by the President to be the United States
Attorney in January 2002 and was appointed to that position in August of that
year. Immediately prior to his appointment, Mr. Miller served as the First
Assistant United States Attorney.
